Things to know about each city/town

  • Corallville – The town was christened Coralville in 1866 shortly after Louis Agassiz, a Harvard zoologist, spoke at the University of Iowa about the “Coral Reefs of Iowa city” and was impressed by the samples of fossilized coral that he found in the limestone around the mills along the Iowa River.
  • Iowa City – Iowa City is known as many things—home of the Hawkeyes, the site of Iowa’s first capital—but we’re also known for being one of the greatest small cities for the arts. The performing arts thrive at local classics like FilmScene, the historic Englert Theatre, Hancher Auditorium, and the downtown music scene.
  • West Liberty – West Liberty is home to the Muscatine County Fairgrounds that hosts the Muscatine County Fair, its biggest annual event, every year in July.
  • Muscatine – Muscatine soon became the world’s largest pearl button manufacturer, its factories employing half of the Muscatine workforce during the turn of the century, earning it the name of Pearl Button Capital of the World.
  • Buffalo – This small Iowa town is located just west of Davenport on the Mississippi River. Buffalo Shores Beach is a popular spot for boaters to pull up to shore and there is a double boat ramp. Adjacent to the beach is a campground with 65 sites. Stop at one of the locally-owned restaurants in Buffalo and enjoy a meal.
  • Davenport (Quad Cities) – The Quad Cities is home to Fortune 500 company Deere & Company. There are 150 other companies on Fortune 500 and 1000 lists that have a presence in the region, as well as the Rock Island Arsenal, a major military installation.
