Set inside a dry-docked towboat, the Sergeant Floyd River Museum outlines the shipping history of the Missouri River. ― Google
- Kingsley – Kingsley is known for having black squirrels and the black squirrel has been our town trademark for many years. Black squirrels have a genetic mutation called melanism which causes them to be black. The first black squirrel postcard was issued for Kingsley’s Diamond Jubilee in 1959.
- Washta – Washta residents celebrate their claim to fame with signs along Iowa Highway 31 on the north and south sides of this town of 248 residents. Occasionally, a passerby pulls off Highway 31 and snaps a photo of the sign. T-shirts celebrating the coldest of cold snaps were sold in recent years at the convenience store in town.
- Quimby – Quimby was officially set up on October 3, 1887, after being founded in late August of 1887 with the name Wendall. The town was renamed Quimby after locals decided that Wendall was “too Republican sounding.” Over the next few months the town grew with two grain elevators, a grocery store, a general store, a hotel, a creamery and a hardware store. The Quimby Herald, Quimby’s first newspaper, was distributed to the 250 residents in 1889, many of which were business owners.
- Storm Lake – Storm Lake is one of Iowa’s top ice fishing lakes in Iowa and the fish are hungry during the winter! Grab your safety equipment, bucket of gear, a fishing buddy and go catch some fish!
