And there we have it. The Operating System has been picked for my digital picture frame. With trying Raspbian (screensaver), OSMC (screensaver), and Screenly, none of these really worked well. clunky to setup or maintain. So the search continued until in the wee hours last night and today.
A friend of mine that works with digital signage systems suggested the operating system from Binary Emotions. So I wiped my SD card and install Binary Emotions – Slideshow. It was the demo version, very limited in what is provided. But it works as I wanted it. So today, I donated to the project and got the Donor’s Release. Everything setup and ready to go.
I got the software setup and updated. Also had to manually configure the wifi as the software defaults to wired. This took some time to actually figure out the IP address of the wired connection on the Pi. But figured out and ssh-ed into the pi and made the needed changes to a config file and reboot and *poof* wireless was working.
